HOW OUR PROGRAM WORKS

OUR GOAL

The main purpose of this program is to introduce the sport of golf to children in a  fun and active atmosphere where children are both learning how to play golf and developing the necessary fundamental skills to become not only good golfers but also great athletes.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

This program is based on the American system "Titleist Performance Institute"  also known as TPI which emphasizes the importance of the physical development before introducing the specialization of a sport, in this case, golf.

For this reason, TPI believes that all Junior Golf Schools must develop athletes first, create competitive golfers second and produce a love for the game along the way.

THE FUNDAMENTAL MOVEMENT SKILLS WE WORK ON

Fundamental movement skills are a specific set of skills that involve different body parts such as feet, legs, trunk, head, arms and hands. These skills are the “building blocks” for more complex and specialised skills that children will need throughout their lives. It is important to work on developing these skills in order to be able to competently participate in different games, sports and recreational activities.

Our activities are focused on improving the children's balance, agility, core strength, hand-eye coordination, foot-eye coordination, speed, change of direction and flexibility. The children develop these fundamental skills through activities that involves kicking, stricking, throwing, jumping, push/pull, catching, jumping, etc.

All the activites we do in this training are related to Golf in a direct or indirect way.

CLASSIFICATION OF THE CHILDREN INTO THE TRAINING

  • We classify the children into four different stages based on their age , physical development and experience with the sport.

LEVEL 1: The Cyclone: Beginners

  • 4 to 6 years old approximately
  • 50-minute session once a week
  • Introduction to the sport through fun activities.
  • The main goal is that children learn to control their body. For this reason, children are taking part in activities that do not look relevant to golf but are supporting their development.
  • The big emphasis is on the Fundamental Skills. Most of the time is spent learning the ABC's (Agility, Balance, Coordination and Speed) and doing activities that are focus on agility, throwing, kicking, push-pull, stricking, catching, visualization/awareness, rotation, and core strength.
  • Activities are fun so the children start developing their love for the sports
  • 30% golf skills
  • 70% fundamental movement skills
  • Children are encourage to be playing  different sports/activities that help them develop their fundamental movement skills.

Each 50-minute class is split into different stations. The children work for a short period of time (about 10 minutes) on a specific skill and then rotate to the next station. There is a lot of playing while they are working on their physical development.

LEVEL 2: The Smash: Intermediate

  • 6 to 9 years old approximately
  • 50-minute session once a week
  • The fundamental sport skills are introduced. However, we continue working on the fundamental movement skills, primary on stability, mobility, agility, balance and coordination. We do it through throwing, horizontal striking, ground base stricking, wrist release, and upper/lower body mobility/stability
  • 70% golf skills
  • 30% fundamental sport and fundamental movement skills
  • We specialized in golf but we encourage that kids continue playing other sports.

  • 10 to 14 years old approximately
  • 50-minute  session once a week
  • 90% golf skills on the course and on the range
  • 10%  fundamental movement skills
  • Preparation to get the "green card" which is the permit to be able to play on the golf courses in Sweden.
